Recovery of Latvian independence has turned the page not only in national, but also in milk industry’s level – in 1995 an organization ‘Latvijas Piensaimnieku Centrālā Savienība’ (‘Central Union of Latvian milk manufacturers) was established that unites milk producers. The goals and objectives of ‘Latvijas Piensaimnieku Centrālā Savienība’ have changed vastly, comparing to the period before the II World War. The organization does not engage in commercial activities anymore and its basic task is directed towards the protection of the interests of milk manufacturers.
Today ‘Latvijas Piensaimnieku Centrālā Savienība’ is a cooperative society that consists of 17 members, who together manufacture about 80% of industrially produced milk in Latvia.
